Thank you so much for writing this. I was not aware of the early history of, Tiffany Club(BTW, the name is now, Trans Club of New England). I have visited their newer club house in Waltham a few years ago during an open house. And for the past five years I have attended, First Event. I cant begin to tell you how much FE has been towards my understanding and growth as a Transgender woman. I am currently a member of a support group very similar to TCNE; Renaissance New England, which was orignally afilliated w/ a well known goup, Tri Ess. Tri Ess had a pre membership interview simialr to TCNE, but without the drama of the phone booth. I recall nervously sitting in a cafe close to where I worked, talking w/ a Tri Ess member, hoping above all else, that nobody I worked with, would notice me or inadvertantly overhear me talking about my, "cross dressing". I recall my first time attending First Event; Changing from my male street clothes into a skirt and blouse in a rest room upon arriving at the convention hotel. I was so overwhelmed by the feelings of acceptance from being around others like myself, that I chose to remain dressed en femm for the long drive back to my home in NH. Just before reaching home I even stopped for gas and to pick up a pizza.
