Ive driven through the western end of your state along I-70 on my way to and from Dayton, OH. One special memory was that it was the first place where (legally)drove 70 MPH, back in May '85 IIRC :) A few years prior to that, I recall a piece on the TV News(precable days,) that described Aroostook County, Maine, as, the appalachia of New England,. Which took a serious affront to; having family up there and having lived there briefly as a kid. Yes, its quite as "cosmopolitan" as say, Portland, ME and yes their economy is/was more agriculturally based, so there will be good years and bad ones,. But come on,. Its still amazing how so many supposedly " Progressive" politicians(D) and other folks often seem to look down their noses at rural areas of this Country. LGBTQ Folx often find acceptance in unexpected places. Funny, that as I grow older, I find myself identifying more as, Conservative. However my brand of conservative means simply to be able to live my life the way that I want to. :)
