Growing up I recall hearing from my Dad that we were part Native American. However upon doing a DNA test a few years ago, I found I was almost entirely western European, but I had no Native blood. However I WAS, 1.6% "Subsarahan African",,. How did THAT happen? FWIW, on my Mom's side, I can trace my lineage back to early New England colonies. Might that have meant I am the result of a relationship with an indentured servant? And that the story, that Im sure my Dad knew as true, was simply a way to hide an inconvenient truth?
